Gracious and Seasoned

It might be easier for us to understand what the Bible is referring to when it says that our speech should be gracious, but have you ever wondered what it means to have speech that is “seasoned with salt”?

In my Bible study, I learned that “seasoned with salt” means that our words should be “tasty” -they should be encouraging to keep the conversation going.

Nobody really enjoys talking to person that is not courteous or to someone that seems to be “talking down” to others.

God’s message can make sense to us, but it might be brand new to someone. If we want respect for ourselves (and especially for God’s Word), we need to model that respect.

Keep the dialogue going by making your conversation tasty and inviting -seasoned with salt! And above all, let’s show the same grace we have been given!

“Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person. ” Colossians 4:6
